Providing Evidence-Based Care
Compassionate therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, and many other psychological concerns.
Compassionate therapy for anxiety, depression, stress, and many other psychological concerns.
Problems like depression and anxiety can hold us back from living the life we want. Therapy can be challenging but the rewards are often worth the investment. Through therapy we can learn to change habits (thinking and behavioral) that no longer serve us and learn to accept and face life’s difficulties rather than avoid them. My role is supporting you in envisioning and working towards a fulfilling life. I work to create a warm, collaborative, nonjudgmental environment where you can be comfortable expressing and challenging yourself.
I am a licensed clinical psychologist who uses evidence-based interventions to help clients experiencing anxiety, depression, and stress related to life events and/or health challenges. Using interventions rooted in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), I also draw on interventions and philosophy from acceptance-based approaches like Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and Mindfulness-based interventions.
My clinical interests also include neurodiversity and autism (helping clients navigate diagnoses, process/identify difficult emotions, and cope with anxiety), especially among young adults. I provide culturally-humble, LGBTQ+ and gender-affirming care to adolescents (14 and up) and adults (18-80+), and couples.
I am a native to the DC area and grew up in Bethesda, MD. I earned my Ph.D. in Clinical-Community Psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, completed my doctoral internship training at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine, and was a postdoctoral fellow at Washington University in St Louis before returning to the Washington DC area. I am licensed in the state of Maryland (#07157) and to see Telehealth clients in 40 states and the District of Columbia.
Outside of my therapy practice, I continue to actively work on psychological research related to emotional processes, depression, and anxiety. For a list of published works see my google scholar page. I am also the proud dog dad of a lovable Boston Terrier.
